About Me

Hi, I'm Natalie!

I'm a photographer based in Chicago. I have been involved in photography for about 18 years, beginning with college....I had plans to major in painting, but after signing up for my first darkroom photography course I was hooked! Armed with my mom's old 1980 Canon AE1, I studied black and white film photography at Columbia College Chicago, where I earned my BA in 2007. I've been a professional photographer ever since and I love what I do!

My Style

My style is not posed, and I don't use props...I'm a firm believer that all you need for amazing newborn portraits is a newborn and some natural light. Same goes for families. I strive to capture genuine poses and expressions. Authenticity, emotion, and art are all motivators in my work and have become the basis for my style. I am passionate about creating art through photography, by capturing real moments.

My Sessions

My sessions are laid back and fun. You and your family will be hugging, kissing, tickling, running, and jumping. There's no need to practice smiling, a natural expression is always more beautiful than awkward posed smiles. While I don't mind grabbing a couple of posed shots, the majority of your photos will look more natural. Sometimes it's the serious or curious looks on kids faces that really capture more of their personality, and those usually end up being favorites of the families I photograph.

I love capturing moments and creating memories for the families I work with. I can't wait to do the same for you!
